When AVOOVA and Andrew Dominic Furniture started developing concepts together in late 2017, the ambition was to create not just Africa’s most beautiful backgammon set but an enduring family heirloom. One year later and the first full backgammon set was completed and sold to an enthusiastic private client who promptly ordered a further twelve sets as gifts for friends. In bringing together AVOOVA’s mastery of ostrich eggshell veneers with the talents of award-winning designer and furniture maker Andrew Dominic, the result was always going to reflect the devotion to traditional craftsmanship and quality that are hallmarks of the two companies. The materials and components are all of the finest quality and take into consideration environmental sustainability and the expectations of highly-discerning backgammon players from around the world. Clients can choose from a small selection of designs for points. The external panel can be customised with inlaid brass initials. All backgammon sets are made to order and, assuming no waiting list, will take approximately 12 weeks.
